Rewi Elffyre, Takaka, NEW ZEALAND Big Beat, Gypsy, Glitch. From a small corner of Aotearoa (New Zealand), Rewi spins a melting pot of tunes from the four corners of the globe. Influenced by big band swing, glitchy breakbeat basslines and a gypsy flourish, his sets never fail to enliven dance floors. With a touch of circus madness, a man who aims to please. When not spinning tunes, Rewi spins fire, torches, poi, whatever it takes to keep the bohemian flavor sizzling hot.
He says he was inspired by the great Wolfie Razzmatazz (listen to Wolfie’s mix here (ES039)  and Malcom Anderson. I’m glad we have a mix from down under !

What is Electro Swing for you ?

Toe tappin, neck groovin, hip thrusting goodness, simmered and seasoned with bass to taste. This, in my opinion, is perfected with a pinch o’ breakbeats, served with a side of glitchy-wobble.
Electro Swing is an evolutionary genre that collects influence from a wide range of electronic genres. It taps into melodies and rhythms that have cultural background, while introducing new twists that keep things lively.
